Overview

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is designed to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career in the health and social care sector at a support worker, senior support worker or care assistant level. To meet national occupational standards, the programme enables learners to demonstrate their skills by producing evidence from their work activities. Learners will acquire skills to support a role in the Health and Social Care sector or progress to study further. Inspire London College is an approved centre of OTHM and is authorised to offer OTHM qualifications at different levels.

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competencies that are assessed in academic terms as equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).  Achieving the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study.

Course Outline

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Requirements

For OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care, learners must fulfil the following requirements.

  • The learner must be aged 18 or above
  • Good understanding of ICT
  • Learners wishing to study and are non-native English speakers must have a minimum level of English language competency*
  • Sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment criteria

Who is This Course For?

Completing OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies provides learners with the opportunity for academic progressions to a wide range of undergraduate programmes, including OTHM Level 4 diplomas.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed by Inspire London College and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.

The Assessor judges that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria.
