Overview

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is designed to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career in the health and social care sector at a support worker, senior support worker or care assistant level. The programme enables learners to demonstrate their skills by producing evidence from their work activities, to meet national occupational standards. Learners will acquire skills to support a role in the Health and Social Care sector or progress to further study. Inspire London College, is an approved centre of OTHM and authorized to offer OTHM qualifications at different levels.

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).  Achieving the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study.

Course Outline

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification consists of 6 mandatory units, for a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

  • Unit Ref. No. L/618/5294 – Effective Handling of Information in Health and Social Care Settings

Each unit carries 10 credit value, 20 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and Total Quality Time (TQT) of 100 hours.

Requirements

For OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care learners must fulfill following requirements.

  • Learner must be aged 18 or above.
  • Good understanding of ICT.
  • For learners wishing to study and are non-native English speakers, they must have a minimum level of English language competency.
  • Sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment criteria

Assessment

  • All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
  • To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.
  • Judgment that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the assessor.
  • The assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgment of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.

Accreditation

OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).  The Qualification Accreditation Number for this course is 603/6776/3.

Certification

Upon successfully passing the qualificationlearner will get an Ofqual Regulated PDF Certificate from OTHM.
