Aims of the Course
The programmes provide the opportunity for individuals to forge a career in business by seeking a greater knowledge and understanding of the industry and to support the individual’s development into senior positions. The course aims for the following:
- To enable learners to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to business in the private and public sectors
- To enhance analytical and evaluative skills relating to business across a number of industries
- To develop the learner’s ability to recognise and reflect on the process of personal learning and development, which facilitates the enhancement of key personal, sociable and other transferable skills
- To encourage the learner’s self-reflection, analytical, intellectual and transferable skills.

The Qualification is made up of 6 units. All units are mandatory and required by learners for the Level 4 Diploma in Business Management.

Learning Outcomes
The overall learning outcomes for all programmes are:
- To understand and apply the principles of leadership in a business environment
- Review and apply the principles of business management within the industry
- To understand and apply the principles of management in a specific environment
- To improve the employability of learners by allowing them to explore the relationship between management theories and their practical application in the business world.
- Analyse problem-solving techniques specific to business and industry
- Select, collate, review and analyse information from a wide range of sources
- Effectively use verbal and communication skills
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Manage one’s own personal development and growth.
Requirements
The qualifications have been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. For entry to the qualifications, learners will be expected to hold the following:
- Solid knowledge of the English Language
- Be age 16 years or above
- Good understanding of ICT
- Demonstrated some ability and possessed qualifications at Level 3, for example, ‘A’ Levels or vocational awards;
- Spent some time in an organisational role and shown they have the capability and drive to develop
- Seeking further professional development and to gain work-related skills and know-how
Who is this course for?
The Qualification is suitable for part-time learners in the workplace but equally appropriate for full-time learners who can also participate in formal work placements or part-time employment. Learners can progress into or within employment in the business sector, either directly on the achievement of the awards or following further study to QUALIFI Level 5 Diploma in Business Management.
Accreditation
This Qualification has been accredited to the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and has its own unique Qualification Accreditation Number (QAN). This number will appear on the learner’s final certification document. Each unit with the Qualification has its own RQF code. The QAN for this Qualification is as follows:

Learners completing the QUALIFI Level 4 Diploma in Business Management can progress to:

- the second year of undergraduate study in business management; or
- directly into employment in an associated profession
