Level 3 Certificate in Phlebotomy is a 40 CPD Credits accredited certificate by the UK-recognised awarding body Step Ahead CPD Qualifications.

Part 2: Advanced Practical Session/Live Blood Session in (GP Clinic).

Unit 4:   Applying Advanced Phlebotomy Skills and Techniques (Advanced Practical Session) in Clinical Atmosphere

During the Advanced Practical Session at the in GP clinic , you’ll receive comprehensive training in the role of a phlebotomist. Our program is designed to provide you with a holistic understanding of the responsibilities and tasks associated with working in the pathology department. You will learn the entire process, from receiving patients at the reception desk to bidding them good bye after successfully collecting blood samples.

You will shadow our trainers while they will be drawing blood from real patients in  GP clinic. Once our trainer will feel that you are confident in drawing blood so they will give you the opportunity for drawing live blood collection under one-to-one supervision with the patient’s consent.

Upon completion of the Advanced Practical Session at the GP clinic, you will have achieved the following competencies:

• Gained understanding with the professional standards maintained by the NHS/Healthcare Provider.
• Demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to adhering to the codes of practice established by the NHS/Healthcare Provider.
• Understood the workings of the policies and procedures governing healthcare practices within this clinical setting.
• Acquired the skills to proficiently label a variety of sample tubes, ensuring accurate specimen identification.
• Developed the ability to select the appropriate tube for specific blood tests.
• Enhanced your capacity to locate veins efficiently for successful blood collection.
• Demonstrated the application of techniques to minimise patient discomfort and the risk of bruising during the phlebotomy process, among other invaluable aspects of the practice.
