Did you know that Dementia is not a specific disease?  It’s an overall term that describes a group of symptoms. Imagine yourself slowly losing your ability to remember your family members, your loved one, your day to day activities and even your own sense of self. Dementia is often referred to as the long goodbye because it gradually diminishes a person’s abilities, qualities, memory loss while also affecting communication and eating habits. It is estimated that 43% of dementia patients die within 24 hours and 84% within a week as a result of lucidity, a phenomena documented since the 19th century.  In response to the growing need for dementia care, inspire London College has developed this course to provide you with sufficient knowledge and skill to handle the situation of those affected. This course will introduce you to the progressive condition characterised by cognitive decline and will teach you how to provide care and support to maintain the quality and dignity of life for those affected.  You will explore how dementia affects brain functions and structures that contribute to cognitive decline. Moreover, you will develop and apply some strategies to increase public awareness and implement preventive measures for dementia.
