Overview

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy is aimed at those who want to study for a foundation degree in accounting. Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy has been developed to provide a route that will enable students to gain the knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen profession. Course Outline

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy consists of 3 mandatory units for a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 240 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Learning Outcomes

Learners studying for the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Accountancy will be expected to develop the following skills during the programme of study:

  • Be able to prepare source documents and Books of Prime (Original) Entries to record financial transactions.
  • Understand the classification and management of income and expenditure.
  • Understand the nature of cost and management accounting.
  • Be able to account for labour costs.
  • Understand the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in recording management information.
  • Understand the role and application of accounting concepts.
  • Be able to use the double-entry system of bookkeeping.
  • Be able to prepare a three-column cash book.
  • Be able to prepare a bank reconciliation statement.

Requirements

The accountancy qualifications UK has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers restricting access and progression. For entry to the accountancy training course, learners will be expected to hold the following:

  • Learner must be aged 16 or above
  • Good understanding of ICT
  • Learners wishing to study and are non-native English speakers must have a minimum level of English language competency*
  • Sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment criteria

Assessment

All units within accountancy courses UK online are internally assessed by Inspire London College and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.

The Assessor judges that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria.
