Overview

The NOCN Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a 12-credit qualification with 48–61 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 120 hours. This qualification has a minimum of 48 GLH, and learners must achieve a minimum of 12 credits. It gives learners a strong introduction to the education and training sector, helping them understand what teaching roles involve and how learning environments operate.

This award helps learners develop knowledge of roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, inclusive teaching and learning approaches, and how to facilitate learning and development for individuals or groups. Learners also explore the role of assessment in supporting learning, building confidence in how to plan, deliver and evaluate effective teaching sessions.

This qualification is suitable for learners 19 years or over and supports a range of trainee teachers and training professionals. It suits individuals not currently teaching, those new to teaching or mentoring, and assessors seeking an introduction to teaching. The award also links to higher education and training qualifications: the unit Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training transfers to the Level 4 Certificate, while no credits transfer to the Level 5 Diploma due to different unit requirements.
