The NOCN Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate is an excellent choice for learners who want to start a career in social care or progress to higher-level roles. It provides a strong foundation in safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and person-centred care. Employers benefit as well, since the qualification helps upskill staff and ensures organisations stay compliant with national care standards. Full funding is available through the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme, making it accessible for both individuals and organisations.
This qualification replaces the Care Certificate and meets the evolving requirements of the sector. It was developed with guidance from Skills for Care and the Department of Health and Social Care, and is delivered by NOCN, an Ofqual-regulated awarding body, ensuring credibility and support for the challenges of today’s social care workforce.
The certificate is a 36-credit qualification with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 360 hours, including 288 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). Learners complete all 36 credits across 15 mandatory units to achieve the full certificate. Skills for Care officially recognises and quality-assures this qualification, and it meets the standards of the Quality Assured Care Learning Service (QACLS) framework as well as current regulatory requirements for health and social care practice in England.
Funding and Importance for Employers
This qualification is fully funded under the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme, making it an affordable option for employers to invest in their staff’s development. By equipping employees with critical skills and knowledge, employers can ensure that their workforce is compliant with the latest care standards. At the end, it will improve the quality of care provided and minimise risks associated with non-compliance.
