Overview

The Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Early Learning and Child Care helps you develop the knowledge and skills to support young children during their early years. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to grow their career and move into senior roles in childcare or early education. This qualification is awarded by Qualifi, an Ofqual-regulated awarding body, and is not listed on the DfE Early Years Qualifications List (EYQL). This Qualifi Level 4 Diploma focuses on key areas such as child development, physical activity and nutrition, supporting children with special educational needs, and promoting partnership working in early years environments. You’ll learn how to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children can learn and thrive.

The diploma comprises 40 credits and provides a strong understanding of safeguarding, early learning, and child development. It prepares you to work confidently in nurseries, preschools, and childcare centres. After completing the course, you can progress to the Qualifi Level 5 Diploma in Early Learning and Child Care or take on senior positions such as Early Years Practitioner or Senior Childcare Worker.

Course Outline

The Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare has 9 units in total. Learners must complete all mandatory units to achieve 34 credits and then choose a minimum of 6 credits from the optional units. A minimum of 40 credits is required to achieve the Diploma and a minimum of 30 hours of teaching practice.

Requirements

Students seeking to enrol for Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare should meet the following requirements:

  • Possess qualifications at Level 3, Such as, ‘A’ Levels or vocational awards and/or;
  • Learners who possess level 4 qualification in another discipline and want to develop their careers in the Early Year Education or Child Care and/or;
  • Work experience in an organisational role and shown they have the capability and drive to develop
  • The learner must be aged 16 or above
  • Good understanding of ICT
  • Learners wishing to study and are non-native English speakers must have a minimum level of English language competency*
  • Sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment criteria
  • Learner must be employed or working as a volunteer in a childcare care setting to demonstrate teaching practices in the real-work environment and direct observations.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed by Inspire London College and externally verified by Qualifi Ltd. The qualifications are criterion-referenced based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.

The Assessor judges that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria.

Accreditation

This Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare has been accredited to the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and has its unique Qualification Accreditation Number (QAN). This number will appear on the learner’s final certification document. In addition,   The QAN for this Qualification is as follows;
