Mental health first aid is an evidence-based, concise, and practical approach to assisting someone experiencing a mental health condition or crisis. It can be delivered in person by trained professionals or by anyone with a basic understanding of the core concepts.
For many people worldwide, it’s not uncommon to experience depression or anxiety. However, not everyone with mental health problems reaches out for help- 30%, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Around 25% of the UK population will experience a mental health problem at some point. Most are mild, short-term, and usually treated successfully with therapy and medication.
But it is still a significant problem. Mental Health First Aid teaches participants how to notice and support individuals experiencing mental health issues or exhibiting signs of substance use in a work environment. They are also taught how to connect those people with appropriate help from fellow employees, community resources or healthcare professionals. In order to seek the increased percentage of mental health problems, Inspire London College developed this mental health first aid video training course in which they introduce the benefits of mental health first aid and workplace wellness schemes. This course covers the effect of stress on individuals and teams and discusses how stress and mental health are linked. This video-based training course also covers the role of employers and managers and ensures that the mental health first aid programme is successful. It concludes with a series of practical examples of how to apply mental health first aid to the actual situation, how to support employees who are experiencing mental health issues and where to point them for further help and advice.
Upon completing this course, you will learn the basic concepts and the importance of mental health first aid. You will also better understand mental health issues and the benefits of mental health first aid. You will understand employers’ and employees’ essential roles and responsibilities in achieving better mental health in the workplace. You will also be able to identify stress-related issues in the workplace and develop a wellness strategy within the workplace.

This mental health first aid training course is for those who may come into contact with someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental health first aid training is also for those who wish to offer emotional support to friends and family members living with a mental illness. This course is aimed at people in the workplace who want to become Mental Health First Aiders or for Supervisors or Managers interested in starting a Mental Health First Aid programme
The total duration of the mental health first aid – video content is 90 Minutes; it does not include the time taken to read, analyse and attempt the quiz or conduct any other research.
The learner can access the Learning Platform 24/7. The time to complete the course depends on the learner’s pace and the time dedicated to training. Though the course is self-paced, the learner will be given a maximum period of 12 Months from the date of enrolment. The learner may request an extension, but ILC holds the right to close/lock the course after the completion of 12 Months.
After successful enrolment, the learner will get access to the Learning Platform, where the training material is available. The training is in video format, and each module has many videos.
Each module is followed by 3-5 Multiple Choice Questions. You will have the option to review the video content as often as you like, and submit the test once satisfied with the answers. The minimum pass score is 80% and you will have 3 attempts to pass test for each module. But, if in any condition, you cannot pass in three attempts, you can request 3 more attempts for all modules, after which all modules will be locked.
The courses offered by Inspire London College are approved and accredited by The CPD Certification Services and different organisations in specific field including IIRSM (International Institute of Risk and Safety Management), IATP (Independent Asbestos Training Providers), and IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers).
