Does Care at CHRISTMAS make any sense? – Social Care at Christmas

Christmas is the event of happiness and rejoice; we gather, and we celebrate. It is the day of joy for everyone; whether one links happiness to religion or not, everyone is welcome to celebrate irrespective of religious belief. The twinkling lights, the decorated trees, glowing houses, and the delicious fragrance of sweets fill the atmosphere with the aroma of LOVE. As the title said, does care at Christmas make any sense? You must be wondering that what the connection between care and Christmas is. Okay, let me tell you my story that will explain the concept of Care at Christmas.
I do remember all of Christmas, all the happiness and sorrows. This couldn’t be true and relatable for all, but I pack some memories that are not worth carrying. It was Christmas evening; trees decorated, lights twinkling, people enjoying laughter and joys, and everything was at peace. Then an accident happened; my mother somehow couldn’t maintain her balance and fell from the stairs. She was moaning with pain, not able to move her leg; probably, it was fractured. Me, my husband, siblings, and relatives gathered around her, not knowing that what to do. It was the time when Care at Christmas was making sense for us. She was screaming for help, but unfortunately, we were just stunned. We were not able to do anything, not because we did not want to; instead, we thought that we might harm her because we lacked health and social care skills. We were not able to provide her Care at Christmas. Obviously, how we were supposed to help her, like, we have not been in that situation before. Well, I don’t want to get in the nitty-gritty, but that had shaken me from inside.

The images of her screaming for help and my inability to provide her health and social care keep bouncing in my head. One evening, I sat down, opened my laptop, and searched for health and social care. The information that I consumed channelled my emotions toward another direction. I still remember a quote that goes something like this “If you save one life, you are a hero, but if you save a hundred lives, you are a nurse”. That phrase struck my mind hard; it made me think of the core purpose of humanity. I began to search for the possibility of how can I acquire health and social care skills. I wanted to pack some health and social care skills so that I could be capable of giving Care at Christmas; at that time, my plans were limited to that.
The list of options that were in front of me was to get admitted to some health and social course school or get online health and social course. Being a mom, getting physical classes was not my thing; it was not feasible for me to leave my baby because I love her so much, so I decided to opt for an online health and social care certificate. Me being a qualitative selector, it is tough for me to make a decision. I do analyse each and everything before making the final decision. I did the same for selecting the institute awarding health and social care certificates; I searched several distance learning institutes, compared the courses, skimmed through the content overview, and observed the testimonials provided. I have my weighing criteria; I give more weightage to testimonials. After analysing the testimonials, the institute that I had selected was Inspire London College, and the health and social care course that I opted for was Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care.

I started learning, the health and social care skills that I have acquired changed my life; it has empowered me in a true sense, making me confident that now I am capable of providing health and social care. I felt relieved that now I am prepared for uncertainties; our CHRISTMAS will not be troubled anymore; I possess health and social care skills. The subsequent Christmas went very well; no accident ever happened again. The key joy for me was that I cared for my mother; she was there with us every Christmas, and she was happy. I don’t know how to communicate this to you, but it was the best gift that I gifted myself; the healthcare assistant skills are far better than everything, yes, even better than chocolates. I am a chocolate lover, though.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a male or a female; having health and social care skills will empower you. You will have a new vibe of confidence in you; you will feel strengthened. Acquiring healthcare assistant skills could be the best ever gift that you can give yourself. Don’t wait for the Santa; you can have it by yourself. I have written this to prevent your Christmas from turning into Christmas like that, we were not able to care at Christmas, but you should be. Unable to help when you genuinely want hurts badly. Moreover, this has double benefits; I can help the family as well as earn a living from healthcare assistant skills. If you have a passion for changing lives, health and social care is the profession for you; you can help others while leveraging your EARNING POTENTIALS. I have shown you the way; rest is your choice whether you want to make your TOMORROW better or not.
What if you are not interested in the health and social care domain? Look around, brainstorm, do you find a name who could be interested in this? Yes, then tell them that you want to gift them something sustainable this CHRISTMAS. I bet they will love it as it is said: “WATER is PRECIOUS than GOLD for one who is THIRSTY”. The right person will recognise its value, thus, will value your GIFT. One with health and social care assistant skills can make care at Christmas possible.
